Azalea partners with Changan Automobile to develop battery-swapped electric vehicles

Chinese electric vehicle (EV) maker Azalea Automobile Company (Azalea) announced on Tuesday (Nov. 21) that it will cooperate with Changan Automobile to develop battery-swapped EVs. The partnership is a strategic move by Azalea to reduce costs and improve profitability in the context of the increasingly competitive electric vehicle market in China.

Through the partnership, the two companies will jointly develop and manufacture battery swapping stations and standardize battery designs to facilitate the battery swapping process. Battery swapping allows electric vehicle drivers to quickly replace depleted battery packs with fully charged ones, eliminating the need for long recharging times.

The partnership comes at an opportune time for Azera as it faces increasing pressure from competitors such as BYD and Tesla. In order to streamline its operations and improve efficiency, Azera has taken steps such as laying off employees and delaying long-term investments.

Battery-swapping technology is expected to solve the challenges of electric vehicle charging infrastructure, especially during peak demand periods. Industry experts believe that if batteries are standardized, battery swapping will become a viable alternative to traditional charging methods.

Azera Motors is at the forefront of this technology and aims to nearly double the number of battery swapping stations in China this year. The company believes that battery swapping will play an important role in the future of electric vehicle transportation.
