Eastern Michigan Defeats Akron in Double Overtime

Samson Evans led Eastern Michigan to a 30-27 win over Akron in double overtime on Tuesday night. Evans finished with three touchdowns, including the game-winning 11-yard rushing score in the first overtime.

Akron, which has now lost three games in overtime this season, answered Evans’ touchdown with a 2-yard touchdown pass from Tahj Bullock to Jake Newell. Owen Wiley then hit a 36-yard field goal to take a 27-24 lead in the second overtime.

Eastern Michigan Defeats Akron in Double Overtime

Eastern Michigan sealed the win with a 3-yard touchdown pass from Austin Smith to Jere Getzinger.

The game ended with Evans rushing for 71 yards and two touchdowns and Smith passing for 214 yards. Jesus Gomez’s 32-yard field goal with 10 seconds left tied the game at 17 and sent the game into overtime.

Akron’s Lorenzo Lingard and Bullock each finished with short touchdowns and Wiley completed a 23-yard field goal.
