Google’s Artificial Intelligence Chatbot ‘Bud’ Aims for 2 Billion User Base

Google is aiming to create another product with a 2 billion user base for its experimental chatbot, Bard. Bard is an artificial intelligence-powered chatbot that helps users brainstorm and customize the way they get information from the Internet.

To accomplish this, Google plans to integrate Bard with Google Assistant, a popular tool used by millions of people to set timers and execute commands. The integration, which will initially be available on mobile devices, is expected to bring artificial intelligence to a wider audience.

Google’s ambitions for Bard come at a time of increasing competition in the AI space. Amazon plans to upgrade its Alexa assistant with similar AI-generating capabilities, and OpenAI recently added voice commands to its ChatGPT tool.

Despite the competition, Bard’s web traffic grew 2 percent in October to 8.7 million, signaling a shift in the way consumers gather information. However, Bard also faces some challenges, such as hallucinating or fabricating content that doesn’t exist. One example was when Bard was asked to analyze the contents of a user’s Gmail inbox, Bard showed emails that didn’t exist.

Google is committed to improving Bard’s accessibility features and learning how to effectively meet the needs of large numbers of users. The company is not currently focused on monetization opportunities such as subscription models or advertising.
