Wild’s Top Line Dominates in 7-4 Victory Against Oilers

The Wild’s top line of Ryan Hartman, Kirill Kaprizov, and Mats Zuccarello exploded for four goals and 10 points in a 7-4 victory over the Edmonton Oilers on Friday night.

Hartman led the way with a five-point night, while Kaprizov had three points and Zuccarello had two. The trio helped the Wild overcome a slow start, as they trailed 2-0 after the first period.

Minnesota scored five unanswered goals in the second period to take a commanding lead. Hartman, Zuccarello, Eriksson Ek, and Marcus Foligno all scored during the run.

The Oilers got one back on a power-play goal by Evander Kane in the third period, but Hartman answered right away with his third goal of the game. Foligno added an empty-netter to seal the win.

Evason pleased with team’s effort

Wild head coach Dean Evason was pleased with his team’s effort, despite the slow start.

“We didn’t come out of the gates the way we wanted to,” Evason said. “But we showed a lot of character to come back and win the game.”

Evason was especially impressed with the performance of the top line.

“They were on fire tonight,” Evason said. “They were creating chances all night long and they capitalized on their opportunities.”

Hartman credits linemates

Hartman credited his linemates for his success.

“We were able to find each other tonight,” Hartman said. “We talked about it as a line, we’ve been watching some shifts, and too many times we were trying to get inside or forcing a little bit. We were keeping it and waiting for our moment to strike.”

The Wild will look to build on their momentum when they travel to Calgary to face the Flames on Saturday night.
